The Borough Blog – June 2014

Welcome to our June blog! We hope you have been enjoying the recent sunshine as we have at the practice. After looking like a building site for much of last year, it is lovely to see the landscaping at the front in full bloom!

It is only three months since our last blog, but lots has been happening. In this edition, we are delighted to introduce a new staff member to the team, report on a sunny Cuckoo Fayre, a summer whitening offer, plans for a 2^nd surgery, midnight walks and even a book launch!

Introducing Lee

We are delighted to welcome Lee White to The Borough Dental Practice team as a new hygienist. Lee will be covering Sarah’s maternity leave, and will be joining us from the 1^st June, until Sarah returns just before Christmas.

Jenny has worked with Lee for many years. She is a superb practitioner and we know patients will receive as lovely and expert care from Lee as they have been enjoying with Sarah.

Sarah and her husband Amos are expecting a little girl (their first child) at the end of June. We will include photos of the new arrival in the next blog!

Summer Whitening – Just £250! (Extended until 31st October)

Before

We are delighted to be offering a special deal for teeth whitening during June, July and August. Normally, £320, we will be offering a special deal of £250 for whitening of upper and lower teeth.

We use the ‘Opalescence Whitening’ system (www.opalescence.com) – a take-home tray system only available from registered dentists. Opalescence is an excellent whitening system Jenny trusts and recommends, and has used it herself. Please speak to Jenny during your check-up if you are interested, or call us at the practice to discuss if your check-up isn’t due.

Midnight Walk!

On the night of 17^th-18^th May, our two Dental Nurses, Amy and Lou (& Lou’s dogs!) were two of 495 people who took part in the 10km Midnight Walk around Salisbury, in aid of Salisbury Hospice.  So far, they have raised over £250. Thank you to everyone who has sponsored them.

And they are not finished yet!

On Sunday 22^nd June, Amy, Lou and Jenny are ‘Walking for Wards’ at Wilton House – a 10km walk around the beautiful stately home and grounds, in aid of the Stars Appeal (Salisbury District Hospital Charity). If you wish to sponsor them for either of these events in aid of these two local charities, please make a pledge/donation in the practice or make an online donation here . Thank you very much!

Plans for a 2nd Surgery

We are submitting plans this week for a 2^nd surgery at the practice. It has always been our intention to have at least two dentists working at the practice. This provides peer support, more emergency cover (currently Jenny is on call virtually 24/7!) and also allows for patients to have a check-up and hygienist appointment in the same visit.

If our planning application is successful, it is likely that the new surgery will be brought on-stream later in 2014, or early 2015. We will keep you posted on developments!

Implants at The Borough Dental Practice

We hope in the next month to appoint a Specialist Implantologist to work at The Borough Dental Practice. This will allow patients considering implants to be seen and treated here at the Practice. We will give further details in our next blog.

Cuckoo Fayre

Thank you to everyone who called in and saw us at The Cuckoo Fayre on Saturday 3^rd May.

We were blessed with a lovely sunny day, the beautiful sounds of The Downton Brass Band on the green outside our premises, and the wafting smell of cooking bacon from St Laurence’s Larder across the way!

And Finally…..

We have a published author in the practice! On 1^st June, Luke Wordley (Practice Manager) had his first novel, The Fight, published in America and the UK by Tyndale House Publishers. The Fight is a contemporary novel set in London with a strong redemptive storyline, and is receiving excellent reviews. Signed copies are available (£8) in the practice!
